Murcia’s regional ministry of tourism has scheduled a diverse and extensive program of guided tours to help visitors rediscover the pleasures of the Costa Cálida.

International tourists and residents – including those travelling from neighbouring regions (Valencia and Andalucía) – are well catered for as the schedule offers exclusive tours in English.

The overall program comprises 30 visits with official guides and experts as part of the “Safe Moments” initiative, and 75 free guided tours offered by the region’s “Safe Tourism Certified” network of tourist offices.

According to the ministry, the tours are organised directly by official tourist guides offering “exceptional experiences in a completely controlled framework, in the open air, guaranteeing maximum health safety for visitors”.

The schedule covers many of the Costa Cálida’s most popular tourist locations, where those taking part can enjoy memorable sunsets, gastronomic tastings, and such iconic attractions as the Cabezo de la Jara astronomical observatory, the Cueva de la Serreta cave and the four picturesque beach coves of Águilas.

The guided tours project managed by town halls in the region currently covers Abanilla, Águilas, Alhama de Murcia, Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Jumilla, Lorca, Los Alcázares, Mazarrón, San Javier, Torre Pacheco, Totana, Yecla and San Pedro del Pinatar.

This latest fourth edition of the annual program, which is due to continue until the end of the year, includes trekking routes, theatrical visits, boat trips, and cultural, cave art, enotourism and historic monument visits.

Both guided tour formats are appropriate for all members of the public, notes minister for tourism Cristina Sánchez, and they enable participants to discover – or rediscover – Murcia’s landscapes, history, cultural assets and gastronomy, while “fulfilling all health protocols, guaranteeing social distancing, providing an unforgettable experience and ensuring full consumer confidence”.
