Tourists arriving at Corvera Airport Murcia can now travel directly to Cartagena by bus. Launched to coincide with the start of the summer season, the new service includes six daily journeys: three from Murcia city bus station, via the airport to the Cartagena station, and three returning from the port resort by the same route. The service is scheduled to continue until 15 September.
Officially presenting the route, the regional government’s director general for mobility and the coastal area, Marina Munuera (pictured), said the aim was to encourage sustainable transport and tourism during the summer months, now that air travel restrictions caused by the pandemic have ended and air traffic is recovering.
She noted that the volume of flights at the airport in May had been 88 per cent of the total for the same period in 2019, and the number of passengers, more than 76 per cent compared with two years ago.
Information about the bus service is available both at the airport and on the Interbus website, where tickets can be purchased online and the current position of the bus can be followed via a geolocation app.
