Jet2, a British airliner specialising in low cost flights, has recently been seen practising take-offs, landings and other manoeuvres at Corvera Airport. This preparation is being carried out by the airline ahead of the summer flight schedule. Multiple training flights are reported to have taken place, helping pilots to familiarise themselves with the surroundings and the airport itself. The pilots will also be gaining experience with visual and radar aids, as well as communications with the air control tower at Corvera Airport.
The new flight schedule will begin at the end of March, with regular flights from Jet2 starting on the 29th of March. The services from Jet2 will initially start with a twice weekly service between the Costa Cálida and UK airports, specifically Leeds-Bradford and Manchester. Jet2 will then increase these services between May and September, with four flights each way between Manchester and three flights for the Leeds-Bradford route.
Jet2 had announced last year that the company would be operating flights from Corvera Airport when operations were transferred from San Javier.
