There will undoubtedly be much focus on how the airport is perceived by the first passengers to land at Corvera Airport. The airport will also be officially opened by King Felipe VI, the King of Spain. For more information, take a look at our blog post here. Details of the opening ceremony and the proceedings have not yet been confirmed, but it has been reported that part of the terminal will be cordoned off in order to avoid disruption and to ensure that the ceremony and the first flights both run smoothly.
Fernando López Miras, the president of the Region of Murcia, welcomed the King of Spain ahead of first flights and also discussed his hopes for Corvera Airport: “The presence of the King at the opening of the International Airport is the finishing touch to the work that has taken so many years”
the International Airport of the Region of Murcia will be the gateway to more wealth, more employment and more opportunities for all of Murcia. In my opinion, it is a key instrument for the present and for the future of one and a half million Murcians. It will also be a fundamental stimulus for national and foreign tourism”
