Europcar has become the first car rental brand in Spain to receive formal AENOR accreditation for its health and safety measures against COVID-19.
The certificate issued by AENOR (Asociación Española de Normalización y Certificación) is an external guarantee of the effectiveness of security measures – including individual protection, hygiene, social distance and employee training – applied by a company. It accredits that a company complies with the guidelines set by the Spanish ministry of health for COVID-19 prevention and hygiene.
AENOR audited Europcar’s disinfection and social distancing protocols in Spain, which form part of its worldwide safety program.
According to Europcar – which operates out of numerous Spanish airports, including Corvera Airport Murcia – these specific measures include the systematic disinfection of vehicles and counters between each rental, a “zero contact” policy (the disinfected keys are delivered in a sealed envelope), social distance measures at stations and the Click & Collect service, which provides a quick counter to avoid queues and unnecessary interactions with staff in the offices.
“The security of customers and employees has been the first priority for us during the last months,” explains Tobias Zisik, general manager of Europcar Mobility Group Spain. “This AENOR certificate is the proof of the effectiveness of our safety program to achieve this and to give our customers total peace of mind.”
Added AENOR CEO Rafael García Meiro, “Europcar shows that its commitment to serving society is at the top of its agenda, consistent with its position. Its solvent protocols, now certified, powerfully boost the confidence necessary for it to quickly recover its important contribution to society and the economy.”

International Measures Overseen by Bureau Veritas
