With just four days to go until the opening date of the new Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera, official confirmation of air safety certification has recently been received. The certification was granted by The Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA), the state air safety agency. This also officially allows the transfer of operations from San Javier Airport to go ahead as planned during the 14th and 15th of this month.

This official certification from AESA also recognises AENA as the management company of Corvera Airport. This also allows permission for the airport to operate flights during both the daytime and nighttime. As well as flights, the certification allows for official use of the runways at the airport, however take-offs and landings are prohibited by conditions of low visibility.

The certificate from AESA was originally requested back in May 2018, and although it has been awarded close to the opening date it is reported that these timings were anticipated by AENA. With this now awarded, the management company have very little left to do before the opening date next week.

Following this good news for Corvera Airport, the official opening times for the airport terminal have also been confirmed. The terminal will be open on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 22:30 PM. On weekends, the terminal will be open slightly later in the morning at 8:30 AM, but will still remain open until the same time of 22:30 PM. The flight schedule for the first day of operations at Corvera Airport has also been confirmed. For more information, take a look here at our recent blog post.
